A source close to Mr. Trump said the president is anxious about special counsel Robert Mueller targeting his son Donald Trump Jr. after his former personal attorney Michael Cohen alleged Mr. Trump knew of Don Jr.'s meeting with a Russian attorney at Trump Tower before the meeting, CNN reports.
"I had bad information at that time and made a mistake in my statement", he said on program, before continuing attacks on the integrity of special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian interference in USA politics, a strategy Trump personally began from the time he took office. "I'm sure, I'm sure I did", Trump Jr.
Trump Jr. initially claimed in a statement - which the president dictated himself - that he had "primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children" during the "short introductory meeting".
But Sunday's post marks the first time that the elder Trump has publicly acknowledged the goal of the meeting, which was also attended by his then-Campaign Chair Paul Manafort, and Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner.
That misleading statement, which the White House later admitted was drafted with the president's help, said the Trump Tower meeting was about a law governing adoptions from Russian Federation rather than a meeting to get negative information about Clinton.
The Trump team has argued that Mr Trump Jr ultimately did not receive any damaging information about Mrs Clinton at the meeting.
In saying that he isn't concerned, Trump has nevertheless torpedoed his past defense of the meeting in claiming it was indeed about getting dirt on his presidential campaign opponent, Hilary Clinton.
OH to have a sales-tax holiday
The claim was that it cost the state $13 million in revenue and lawmakers created a tax reform bill against it. The Saturday after Thanksgiving is also a tax holiday in New Mexico, thanks to legislation passed in March.
President Donald Trump's attorney, Jay Sekulow, is blaming "bad information" on his previous claim that the president had no involvement in releasing a statement on Donald Trump Jr.
Such testimony by Cohen, a longtime fixer for Trump, would contradict the testimony and public denials of the president, his son, and other campaign officials who've repeatedly said the president wasn't aware of the meeting until more than a year later. More than a year ago, : "Most politicians would have gone to a meeting like the one Don jr attended in order to get info on an opponent".
While "collusion" is not mentioned in US criminal statutes, Mueller is investigating whether anyone associated with Trump coordinated with the Russians, which could result in criminal charges if they entered into a conspiracy to break the law, including through cyberhacking or interfering with the election. I say, as they come, Tax them.
"If I ask Donald a question, 'What time is it?' He would probably tell me how to build a clock", the lawyer explained.
But here's the thing: This is a about how the Trump Tower meeting was totally fine - nothing illegal to see here. "You then misled the country about the goal of the Trump Tower meeting when it became public". Trump has seethed against what he feels are trumped-up charges against his former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, whose trial began last week and provided a visible reminder of Mueller's work.
In another, he expressed frustration with both the media and Mueller's probe. If true, it would also mean that Donald Trump Jr. lied about his father's knowledge of this to congressional investigators.
Sekulow also downplayed comments made by the president's other attorney, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who recently said that collusion is not a crime, calling them "rather unremarkable".
