At 11 a.m. HST on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, the center of Hurricane Olivia was located about 1025 miles E of Hilo and 1190 miles E of Honolulu (near latitude 21.7 North, longitude 139.4 West).
The NHC said Olivia will weaken further over the weekend, and possibly downgrade to a tropical storm by Tuesday. Norman was moving north-northwest at 9 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service says high storm rainfall from Olivia is possible with amounts of 10 to 15 inches, with isolated amounts over 20 inches. Commercial ports are Hilo Harbor and Kawaihae Harbor on Hawaii Island, Kahului Maui and Barber's Point, Honolulu Harbor, Kalaeloa, and Kewalo Basin on Oahu.
Forecasters say Tropical Storm Florence has turned into a hurricane and is swirling toward the East Coast for what could be a direct hit toward the end of the week. The cyclone was moving to the west at 12 miles per hour.

And perennial Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters was back anchoring the blind side in front of Foles. Even after a second-half surge, Foles finished 19 of 34 for just 117 yards and an interception.
As of the NHC's advisory issued at 11 a.m. EST Sunday, Hurricane Florence's center will move over the Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda and the Bahamas on Tuesday and Wednesday, and it will get to the southeastern US coast on Thursday.
Gov. David Ige signed an emergency proclamation this afternoon that will provide relief for disaster damages, losses and suffering caused by Hurricane Olivia. "I am declaring a state of emergency so that we can begin to prepare state assets, and I encourage Virginians to monitor forecasts and make their own preparations now", Northam said.
But flash flooding could be a concern. The proclamation declares the counties of Hawai'i, Maui, Kalawao, Kaua'i and the City and County of Honolulu disaster areas for the goal of implementing emergency management functions. As we get within the next few days, we'll have a better idea of where Florence could make landfall, so keep checking back in for updates.
Hawaii residents are on edge again as the latest storm threat shows Hurricane Olivia headed for the Islands. A watch is typically issued 48 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of tropical-storm-force winds, conditions that make outside preparations hard or unsafe.
