Mr. Trump seemed to acknowledge that the unseemly fight would have been unusual for most of his 44 predecessors as president of the United States.
Manigault Newman writes in her book that others heard the tape, including veteran pollster Frank Luntz.
Manigault Newman has said she was offered $15,000 to sign a non-disclosure agreement when she was sacked last Decemberthat was, "as harsh and restrictive as any I'd seen in all my years of television".
"The sad thing is as we saw with 'Access Hollywood, ' it probably won't impact his base, I think their support is baked-in, but I think it does expose him for the racist that he is", she said, adding that the "truth matters".
Manigault Newman also weighed in on that controversial jacket that Melania Trump wore when visiting the child detention center right in the midst of the blowback the President received for his inhumane policy of separating immigrant children from their parents. She begged me for a job, tears in her eyes, I said Ok.

The release of the recording comes as Omarosa is promoting her memoir, "Unhinged", published by a division of Simon & Schuster, which is a division of CBS. "She made it up", Trump tweeted.
During the campaign and throughout her White House service, Manigault Newman was publicly supportive of the president and his policies. It's that she was ever hired in the first place.
"I never heard anything and the idea that they would print that without calling me, emailing me, texting me", he told Inside Edition.
"No, I, I ... nobody even told me about it", Trump says.
Manigault-Newman also taped Trump sounding surprised on the phone after being informed of her firing at Kelly's behest.
After leaving the White House, Manigault Newman was "downhearted" because Trump "ceased all correspondences with her", an unnamed "insider" source told The Daily Mail. She was the highest-ranking African-American on the White House staff. "Now that she says bad about me, they will talk to her. Fake News!"
