Each of the "Short Treks" episodes will reveal clues about the story unfolding on "Star Trek: Discovery", a series that is heading into its second season, co-creator and executive producer Alex Kurtzman said.
The CBS All Access original series debuted first-look photos from the anticipated sophomore season and an early glimpse inside the premiere episode, featuring the first footage of USS Enterprise Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) in action, during its Comic-Con panel in coveted Hall H on Friday. "Obviously the spore drive is one of those elements, and by the end of Season 2 you will realize why certain things occurred". Each short will be an opportunity for deeper storytelling and exploration of key characters and themes which fit into STAR TREK: DISCOVERY and the expanding "Star Trek" universe. Characters getting the Short Treks treatment are Harvey Mudd (Rainn Wilson), Craft (a new character played by Aldis Hodge), Saru (Doug Jones) and Tilly (Mary Wiseman).
Putin summit 'off to a good start' in Helsinki
The last, between former Presidents Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev, was held in Prague, Czech Republic, on April 8, 2010. Putin also said Washington knows the Kremlin's position on the Iran nuclear deal, from which Trump withdrew past year .
Kurtzman shared that the upcoming season will sync up with Star Trek canon. "They'll also introduce audiences to new characters who may inhabit the larger world of Star Trek". And not just her recent problems with the betrayal of her ex-Captain, Lorca, but her complicated family history with Sarek and particularly her relationship with her Vulcan half-brother, Spock, who was re-confirmed as appearing in the season.
Also expect to see some new characters for the second season, including several from Trek's past. However, the new trailer certainly looks like the show has not missed a beat. Additionally, Tig Notaro will appear in a recurring role. Season 2 will consist of 13 episodes and will see the search for Spock unfold. Since the show's premise-redefining season finale back in February, fans (like myself) have been anxiously awaiting any updates on the CBS All Access series.
