"Everybody is waiting for the film to be released", the bench told the counsel appearing for the petitioner.
Petitioner Rajashekaran had moved the top court challenging a Madras HC decision to hear his plea against the release of the film on June 16.
However, Goldie Films was supposed to release Kaala in Karnataka and backed out later following the opposition from pro-Kannada groups. A huge section of the film fraternity in the state has admitted to being hugely upset by the superstar's remarks on Cauvery water row.
He also assured the court that the state government would provide security to theatres screening the film in the state.
In his message, Rajinikanth said, "I understand HD Kumaraswamy's situation. When the film is released around the world, the Karnataka ban would highlight the issue (Cauvery water dispute) in Kannada, asking them to allow the release of the movie".
5Stars and League strike new Italian coalition deal
The breakthrough came after the League and 5-Star agreed to drop economist Paolo Savona as their choice for economy minister. Prime Minister Theresa May spoke to the newly sworn-in Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte this evening on the phone.
It is "surprising" to know that the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) was also part of those who were making such attempts, he alleged.
As per andhraboxoffice.com, 'Kaala' has earned Rs 60 crores by selling its theatrical rights in Tamil Nadu, which is the most important center for the release of Rajinikanth's film. The new distributor is the veteran #KanakapuraSrinivas producer and distributor. He had earlier distributed films like Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijjjaan, which also had problems with external fringe elements.
"Kaala" is all set to hit theatres on 7th June and till now, one can't be sure of its release in the Kannada territory that can command a decent income for the makers of "Kaala". As Rakesh Gowthaman of Vettri theatre in Chrompet, a suburb of Chennai, said: "The controversies have been able to create some hype around Kaala".
Now for the movie to be declared a hit, it needs another Rs. 280 crore, which looks quite possible for the movie, considering how the megastar's last film "Kabali" collected Rs. 650 crore worldwide, with Rs. 259 overseas business.
