After Steve Levitan tweeted last night that he was "disgusted" to work for Fox following a controversial statement by a Fox News star, Laura Ingraham that called children detention centers "summer camps", the Modern Family co-creator/co-showrunner is cutting ties with the company. "I understand why that is easier for some than others but many powerful people are powerful enough to speak up to their bosses at a moment like this".
Levitan and Feig's tweets follow those of "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, who spoke out on Saturday about Fox News and one of its prime time anchors Tucker Carlson, saying, "It's business like this that makes me embarrassed to work for this company". After calling conservative pundit Anne Coulter "the face of pure evil" over comments she made regarding the current administration's inhumane immigration policies on Fox News, Levitan announced that he will be leaving his 20th Century Fox Television overall deal and "setting up shop elsewhere" after Modern Family wraps up its upcoming season.
Levitan specifically criticized Fox News for not being critical in its coverage of the Trump administration's policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the USA border. "This bullshit is the opposite of what #ModernFamily stands for".

The Simpsons has always been a 20th Century Fox property, and the show has never shied away from airing its creators' opinions about Fox News within the show.
Producer Ben Wexler condemned Fox News on Tuesday, tweeting, "I'm starting to think trump could kill five (not six) million Jews and Fox News would be like 'Okay STOP with the Hitler comparisons!'"
