North Korea "hopes to work with China and other concerned parties to promote and establish a solid, long-lasting peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula and make joint efforts to achieve a lasting peace on the peninsula". As NPR's Anthony Kuhn notes, Chinese state media have even publicly announced this third visit with Kim still in the country.
South Korea's foreign ministry spokesman said South Korea and China shared the strategic goal of completely denuclearising the Korean peninsula. "[The trip] is about keeping Xi Jinping in the picture after the Singapore Summit", professor Steve Tsang, a political scientist and director of the SOAS China Institute, told Newsweek.
"They agreed to safeguard, consolidate and develop China-DPRK relations, and jointly push forward the sound momentum of peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula to make a positive contribution to safeguarding world and regional peace, stability, prosperity and development", the agency said.
While opinions about the success of that summit for the U.S. and North Korea remain divided, most agree that China ended up as the real victor in Singapore with Trump announcing the suspension of joint military drills with South Korea, calling the exercises "provocative", and even alluding to pulling United States troops out of the Korean Peninsula. The US maintains it does not plan for decapitation, or regime-change oriented strikes against foreign governments, but it's been constantly dogged by tales of US Navy SEALs training with South Korean soldiers to kill Kim.
Kim is visiting China and there is a reason for this, he said.
The United States relies on China to enforce UN economic sanctions against the North, giving Beijing potential leverage in its looming trade war with Washington.
Following the Singapore summit, China suggested the UN Security Council could consider easing the economic restrictions.
Germany 'under pressure' after Mexico defeat Kroos
The Germans next play Sweden on June 23 before facing South Korea in their final group game four days later. After getting a lead in the first half, all the once fearsome La Roja had to do was keep the Dutch at bay.
About 7,700 US military personnel remain unaccounted from the 1950-1953 Korean War, US military data shows.
Despite reports of differences, China remains a close ally of North Korea.
"It reflects that China is indispensible to the entire Korean nuclear issue".
Trump intentionally undermined American national security: "For now, I'd only nominate [Trump] for the 'Ignoble Prize.' It's given to the leader who uses his presidential prerogatives to undermine the personal security of his citizens and values of his nation in more ways in just one year than any leader before him".
"No matter the changes in the worldwide and regional situation, China's party and government's resolute position on being dedicated to consolidating and developing Sino-North Korea relations will not change", the report cited Xi as saying.
Analysts saw this as a clear sign of Beijing's influence. For its part, China has been warning of strong retaliation.
China Central Television reported Xi as saying after today's meeting that he hoped both North Korea the us can implement the outcome of the summit, and that relevant parties can work together to advance the peace process on the peninsula.
