Lewis Hamilton was fifth quickest in P1, as he welcomes the chance to move on from the disappointment of the opening Grand Prix of 2018.
"We changed a few things this evening and it didn't work as we expected, but the morning was better for us".
In a boost for Ferrari, both Mercedes cars were more than half a second slower than the best lap set by Raikkonen, who would be investigated by race stewards for an unsafe auto release following a pitstop.
Red Bull Racing's Ricciardo wasn't in the mix during the beginning of the first practice session of the weekend, but in the final 30 minutes set a lap-time of 1m31.060s to go ahead of everyone else. With such fine margins, any one of the three teams could prove to be quickest during Sunday's race.
Red Bull was frequently adrift of the Mercedes/Ferrari axis across one-lap in 2017, and again Ricciardo was unable to live with the pace of its opponents, as he wound up fifth fastest.
His time in the Friday afternoon session was not representative of his actual pace, however, as Hamilton locked up in his Mercedes while on his fastest lap before then reporting his tires were "dead".
"I am innocent", South Africa's Zuma tells cheering crowd
Bishop Ndlela, of the United Methodist Church, said religious leaders attended Friday's rally to show Zuma that he was not alone. Zuma, 75, spent about 15-minutes at the High Court in Durban on Friday morning before his case was adjourned to June 8 .
Verstappen's crash in qualifying in Bahrain has come just two weeks after the Dutchman also spun in the Australian Grand Prix, but team boss Christian Horner has denied suggestions that the youngster is pushing too hard.
Earlier, Ricciardo's teammate Max Verstappen's auto lost power and ground to a halt on the track.
The Dutchman got out and helped marshals push the vehicle back to the pitlane.
And Verstappen says the reason he was out on track was to try and solve a mapping issue that had been costing him time when trying to run in qualifying specification.
"I learned the data immediately once I arrived on the scene of this auto as for me it had been also a significant surprise", Verstappen informed reporters.
Verstappen headed into the qualifying session with the hope he could get his auto high up on the grid for tomorrow's race.
"I'm always excited for the race".
