However, recent rumors have suggested that Sony has been giving out PlayStation 5 devkits to certain studios, with the report stating that Sony has asked studios to keep the devkits in locked rooms and restrict access to the device. The PlayStation 5 and next generation of console hardware will bring a lot of interesting new tools and ideas for developers to play with. The sources said that multi-year plans for projects are always shifting, but it may be too much of a stretch to think that the PlayStation 5 will arrive this year.
The source suggests that while an imminent release is unlikely, Sony could be forced into action by surprise moves from other companies.
Sony would launch the PlayStation 5 in 2020. At some point, Sony's probably looked at every possible date. Even developers at Sony's first-party studios had not been briefed on the existence of the PS5 yet, and these are the developers now working on games scheduled for 2019 and later.
Early Betting Odds Released For Brock Lesnar's Opponent In UFC
Brock Lesnar has re-signed a new deal with WWE, and it appears one of the terms will allow him to return to fight in UFC . UFC boss Dana White had said last week Lesnar would be returning to the promotion to resume his MMA career.
Kotaku's extremely well-connected Jason Schreier has recently spoken to dozens of developers, both first and third-party, about the next generation of consoles, and most knew nothing about it.
Another rumour making the rounds is that a large number of dev kits had already been distributed to studios. According to a source, early devkits would find similarities with a PC, with test versions of CPU and GPU for the final product. As such, even if there are any such devkits they may be well disguised. The PlayStation 5 release date is unlikely before 2020, so the PS4 owners do not have to worry about upgrading just yet. However, the current state of the console industry - especially as it concerns releases like the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X - means that you can't really take anything for granted concerning the likely release date of an upcoming console. Sony has also updated some of the games like The Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Rachet & Clank to make use of the new PS4 Pro's hardware.
Schreier goes on to claim that while information regarding the PS5 is "floating around", it's far less than what would be expected if the console was set for release in 2018 or 2019.
