Fifteen survivors were taken to hospitals, with three of them in critical condition, police said.
Alicia Wack said her 21-year-old cousin, who made the best gingerbread houses and "absolutely lived and breathed hockey", had played defence with the Broncos for two seasons. The condition of the truck's driver is unknown.
The team captain had played for the Broncos for just over four years and had served as team captain for the past 2 1/2 years, his father Kelly Schatz said.
He said the last time he saw Haugan, the coach was playing video games in his office with one of his two young sons. "I am freaking out".
"He liked sports, but at times I think he tolerated sports so he could be a teammate", said Thomas in an interview.
Around 5 p.m. Friday, the truck was heading west at a highway intersection south of Nipawin when it collided with the bus.
The bus was t-boned by a tractor trailer.
"The loss is devastating, and our team is in shock as we come to terms with this tragic accident", Sklaruk said. "It's very, very bad".
He played junior hockey in the league in the 1990s before becoming a coach.
Pastor Jordan Gadsby at the Apostolic Church in Nipawin said more than a hundred people had gathered at the church - including parents and grandparents of the players who were on the bus.
"It is a significant accident, we had a tractor trailer and a bus collide", Royal Canadian Mounted Police inspector Ted Monro told a press conference, declining to give details about the victims. "I've got four other kids and they're here, which is nice". "Some of them are waiting to hear if their kids are alive".
Arsenal grabs 3-2 win over Southampton, Chelsea held at home
Wenger made five changes from the team that beat CSKA Moscow 4-1 in the Europa League quarter final first leg at the Emirates. And at the end of the first 45 minutes it was the Gunners that walked into the tunnel with a 2 - 1 lead.
The Broncos are a close-knit team from the small city of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, which has a population of about 6,000.
Steven Wilson, a play-by-play announcer in Weyburn, Sask., called Haugan "the classiest guy" in the league.
"We are heartbroken knowing many of those we lost had their entire lives in front of them", Trudeau said in a statement Saturday.
"We're all in it together", Beatty said. "We know that the coroner and their office needs to do their work and let families know".
A GoFundMe page set up Friday night to help financially support the victims and their families has raised over $3 million.
"Mark was an exceptional young man, an assistant captain during his time at York and the team MVP in his fifth and final season in 2015-16", Lions head coach Russ Herrington said in a written statement. He was described online as a "great man" and incredible mentor to young players.
Kevin Henry, a coach who runs a hockey school in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, said he knows players on the team. "My parents could have been the ones left hanging on whether or not I was okay", Slaght said, beads of sweat trickling down his reflective gaze.
What's so gutting about this tragedy is that it could have been any one of us.
Air ambulances were dispatched to the scene to transport the injured to hospital.
The gym isn't the one he usually attends, but when he heard that CrossFit Basinview was hosting a special workout in honour of the 15 lives lost in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, he didn't waste any time hopping in his auto to sweat out his emotions. York will also be displaying Cross' jersey.
"Sending all my thoughts and prayers to those impacted with the @HumboltBroncos bus crash".
