Six months after the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh, the Karnataka police has arrested a man said to be linked with a right-wing radical group for his suspected involvement in the sensational killing.

The killing of the journalist had drawn widespread condemnation and the Siddaramaiah government had come under flak for not making any headway in nabbing the culprits.
The Bengaluru Magistrate court on Friday sent T Naveen Kumar, a denounced in the Gauri Lankesh kill case, to Special Investigation Team (SIT) care for five days.Naveen Kumar assumed name Hotte Manja, an inhabitant of Maddur in Karnataka's Mandya region and pioneer of Hindu Yuva Sena, was captured by police on February 18 after they recuperated 15 rounds of live projectiles from him. A case under the Arms Act was then registered against him and he was remanded to judicial custody by a court.

The journalist was killed by the lone intruder in front of her house when she returned from the office of her tabloid on September 5 previous year. Earlier on March 3, Naveen Kumar was taken into custody by the Karnataka police for questioning in connection with the case.
SIT investigation officer M N Anucheth confirmed the development to Naveen Kumar.
Kumar, according to the police official, was a member of a hard-line Hindu group called the Sanatan Sanstha.
The advocate, Virendra Ichalkaranjikar, who is head of the Sanstha-linked Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad, was part of a press conference of Sanatan Sanstha and the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on the Gauri Lankesh case in September a year ago.

Sources in the SIT said that concrete evidence has not been gathered to link Naveen Kumar to Sanathan Sanstha.
