Karen McDougal said she had a 10-month affair with Donald Trump before he was President, and while "disgusted" by his comments that surfaced during the 2016 campaign about grabbing women's genitals, she said it was not the Trump she knew. "You know, I know a lot of people think it's odd", she said.
McDougal said that she did not know whether the infamous "Access Hollywood" comments reflected how Trump acted in real life. "There's been some comments I've heard in the news he's said about her, I think those comments are wrong, but do I think it's odd that a father would love his daughter so much that he brags about her?" "It must have been so sad".
However soon after the story came into the public eye, she wished to go out and also tell her part or side of the story as to just what took place, she revealed.
As for Trump's wife, Melania, who Trump was married to during the alleged affair, McDougal expressed remorse and apologized.
"What can you say except, I'm sorry?"
Asked what she would want to say to the first lady now, McDougal said, "I'm sorry".
McDougal is suing the company, American Media Inc., to get out of the contract and spoke about the affair to CNN on Thursday.
"I was kind of mortified", McDougal said. "I'm not that kind of girl". "There were real feelings", she said. That is the same time period that porn star Stormy Daniels claims she, too, had an affair with Trump.
Asked about Trump's denials, McDougal said, "I guess I understand because he's trying to protect his family, his image, things like that".
She also said at one point American Media CEO and National Enquirer publisher David Pecker, who considers himself a friend of Trump's, thanked her for her loyalty.
The former Playboy model said she was attracted to Trump and thought he was "an interesting person" and "brilliant".
She cried en route going home, but really did not think she will ever see Trump again, however, not long after, she consented to continue additional rendezvous with him when he called her, she claimed. I'm very selective in what I'm saying about our relationship.
Bomb blast misses Egypt's Alexandria security director; one policeman killed
Attacks in recent years were claimed by Islamic State in a targeted campaign against security forces and civilians. Five other people wounded in the blast were being treated in the city's military hospital, the official said.
This is the second big interview with an alleged Trump mistress this week for CNN's Cooper.
She said that guilt was what ultimately led her to end the alleged affair.
"Obviously, there's a reason I don't bring her up, because I felt guilty about it", McDougal said, adding that she never knew for sure whether Melania was aware of their affair.
"He's very proud of Ivanka, as he should be", she told Anderson Cooper. And Keith (Trump's driver) drove around to the back and he said, we have to get out here, because we don't want to walk to the hotel.
McDougal first met Trump in the summer of 2006, during the filming of "Celebrity Apprentice" at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. "He would call me baby or he would call me handsome Karen.". "And, you know, 'You're a smart girl.' There wasn't a lot of comparing, but there was some".
McDougal said she is a "die-hard Republican" and voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 election.
McDougal said their relationship was consensual and loving, and that they saw each other regularly through the duration of the alleged affair.
"After we had been intimate, he tried to pay me", McDougal said.
McDougal said they were together "many dozens of times", and responded in the affirmative when asked if they were intimate - saying later that Trump had not used protection. She added she was troubled when women came forward during the campaign with accusations of sexual harassment and assault against Trump. "I'm angry", McDougal said of her contract with American Media.
"I kind of smiled at it, I thought it was kind of cute and amusing".
While the alleged affair dates to 2006, the agreement was only made in 2016, when Trump was running for the presidency.
